Modal analysis is the procedure of determining a structure's dynamic characteristics; namely, resonant frequencies, damping values, and the associated pattern of structural deformation called mode shapes.

Modal analysis is used to learn about the response of a structure and find out where failures could occur. At this point, modifications to the structure can be done to improve the design.

Industries such as aerospace, defence, automotive and electronics are using modal analysis to better improve their products.
